Benjamin H. Waddell
Ben is a 22-year-old aspiring American open-wheel race car driver living just outside of Denver, Colorado.
Ben is a second-generation racer. His father and coach, Barry Waddell, was a successful road racer in both sports cars and open-wheel cars for more than 25 years. In addition to the experience, training and insight he gains from his father; Ben utilizes today’s simulator technology namely with iRacing.com. His extensivesimulator training has given Ben a strong familiarity with some of the great American racecourses and speedways that he will be competing on.
Ben graduated High School in 2014 with two clear goals: get his college degree and pursue his dream of developing a professional driving career. In addition to racing, he is working on his marketing and communications degree in Denver.
Supported by his family, friends and community, Ben is laser-focused on his goal of becoming a professional racecar driver and one day competing in the Indianapolis 500.
Ben competed in 16 races, landed 6 podiums and finished in the top 5 at 10 races. He claimed his first win and the fastest lap at Laguna Seca in August.
Ben took first place at the first ever Lucas Oil Racing School Series.

Barry Waddell, Father & Coach
His father and coach, Barry Waddell, was a successful road racer in both sports cars and open-wheel cars for more than 25 years.
He currently serves as a professional driving coach. His resume includes: RuSPORT, Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing, Michael Shank Racing and Target Ganassi Racing. His guidance and experience has helped Ben learn and perfect his race craft.
